In memory of Annette von Alemann

In memory of Prof. Dr. Annette von Alemann

Annette von Alemann in Lisbon during the 2018 RINGS conference

On August 6, 2024 our dear colleague and friend Annette von Alemann passed away after a serious illness. Annette was not only a brilliant researcher in Gender Studies with a focus on social inequality, but also an exceptionally kind person who met people at eye-level and cared deeply about social transformation.

She was also a dear friend of RINGS. Since 2017, she represented Gender Studies institutions from the universities of Paderborn and Duisburg-Essen in Germany, served as Co-Chair of RINGS and made important contributions to our community. Among many things, she represented RINGS during an exchange of views of the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality on Gender Studies in Hungary, which took place on November 8, 2018 at the European Parliament in Brussels (RINGS news post: https://ringsgender.org/en/aktuality/gender-studies-hungary-exchange-views-brussels-18112018).

Her dedication, compassion, and scholarship have left a lasting impact on us all and she will live on in our hearts, thoughts and work. We will miss her greatly, and our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time.
